X MAG can be used as an instrument which is functional to the
teaching of “geometric and architectural drawing, architecture,
interior design and scenic construction” disciplines which are
part of the study curriculum of the art institutes.
In order to guarantee scientific seriousness to a
research, albeit of a preliminary kind, directly concerned with
teaching activity,
X MAG is the first product in the world
based on pure magnetic fastening capable of creating bold and
spectacular constructions. Prior to X MAG such constructions
could only be made using mechanical fixing systems. The patented
magnetic circuit which is at the base of X MAG has enabled a
momentous leap in the exploitation of the energy of permanent
magnets for the creation of three-dimensional structures. It’s
also well-known that the only similar product existing before X
MAG (Roger’s Connection) was characterised by strength and
performance far inferior to X MAG.
X MAG can be
used in an infinite number of ways:
-
it's a play object, with an age target starting
from 6 years;
-
it's a teaching aid (extremely useful for
learning about descriptive geometry, magnetism, mathematics,
chemistry etc.)
-
it's a useful tool for the study of mechanical,
crystalline, and atomic-molecular structures etc.
-
it's a formidable aid for the simulation and
study of architectural forms
-
it's an elegant decor element, ornamental and
attractive
-
it's an excellent gift
-
it's a therapeutic tool

It would be
interesting to explore each of these individual uses in depth,
but for the sake of brevity we shall limit ourselves to
providing more detail about the potential of X MAG as a play
object, leaving to other sections further elaborations regarding
its utility.
In tests performed on hundreds of X MAG users of all ages and
cultural extraction (from entire classes in primary and
secondary schools through to the teachers, from housewives to
professionals, from the man in the street to the engineering or
physics graduate) the reaction of everyone involved was
primarily one of great interest.
What strikes
absolutely everyone is the fascination of magnetism. The
elevated magnetic attraction and repulsion unleashed by the
small elements of X MAG surprises and fascinates.
In giving shape to an object, we immediately realise that we are
dealing with something which goes beyond the traditional
patterns, uniting in a single product many features which -
taken one by one - have made the fortunes of many other famous
products.
The
construction aspect of X MAG is of the modular type, and can be
compared to historically famous construction systems such as
LEGO. However, the special feature of X MAG is that it can be
used to make static or dynamic geometrical forms which are
extremely original and different from one another, through the
use of just two single components: a bar and a sphere. And
entirely without the use of any mechanical interlocking.
X MAG is
therefore a unique concept for a sector, such as that of toys
and games, where for years there were no innovations in the
magnetic toys segment; the last of this kind was the "Levitron",
a top which manages to spin suspended in the air thanks to the
combination of three physical effects: magnetic repulsion,
gyroscopic effect and gravity.
